Five Helpful Quick Facts about Buca di Beppo!
If you’ve never stepped into a neighborhood Buca di Beppo or gotten any Buca takeout, you may be wondering what it is you’d be getting yourself into if you did. With a name that sounds like the name of a jolly Italian cartoon character and portions that you should not attempt to eat all on your own, the whole Buca di Beppo experience can seem like somewhat of an enigma to the uninitiated. So we’ve compiled a list of 5 important things to know before your first visit!
- Our food’s served family-style!
The first thing you should know about us is that we’re family friendly. So family-friendly, in fact, that everything on our menu is made to be passed around. Most entrées come in two sizes – the Buca Small which feeds two or more or the Buca Large which feeds four or more. Even our appetizers, salads, sides and desserts are big enough to be split up among friends and family. We recommend starting your Buca di Beppo meal with some of our garlicky, fresh baked bread then proceeding from there.
- We deliver.
For extra gigantic catering orders, we’re happy go the extra mile and deliver your fresh, authentic pastas to your home or party venue, exactly when you need them. Delivery drop off locations must be with 10 miles of the nearest Buca di Beppo and delivery fees may apply.
- We throw great parties.
At Buca di Beppo, our first passion is food of course. Our second passion would have to be celebration! Each one of our restaurants has multiple banquet rooms for private parties of all sizes. Our walls are decked out with celebratory décor in every room and our friendly staff is always ready to help with party setup. Our special Chef’s Table and Pope Table are particularly great for birthdays. We also have a stellar catering service so you can take Buca anywhere you feel like getting festive.
- One pasta pan feeds 20.
The Buca Catering menu is designed for feeding a crowd. More specifically – an Italian-loving crowd! A single full-size pasta pan will easily feed 20 pasta fans and, for those that prefer less pasta, many of our salads and classic Italian entrées are available in catering pans too. Think eggplant or chicken parmesan, buttery cooked salmon, prosciutto-stuffed chicken breast and tangy apple gorgonzola salad!
- We have over 95 locations.
What began as a basement bistro in Minneapolis has grown out into 95 separate locations, each of them vibrantly unique. While the atmosphere and the personality of each location varies, they all have one thing in common. They all encourage family fun and togetherness! Visit the main site to find the Buca di Beppo near you.
Top 5 Tips for Hosting a Dinner Party
Whether you’re hosting the giant family reunion meal this summer or simply having a few friends over to sip cocktails and exchange gossip, Buca di Beppo can help. No matter the scale of your celebration, we’re guessing you want to create an experience that’s magical, memorable and fun… and not just for the guests. All too often, dinner party hosts get so caught up in creating an unforgettable experience, they forget to enjoy the moment once it arrives. The secret to enjoying your party as much as your guests is careful preparation. When the big day comes, you shouldn’t be rushing around, trying to cook, clean, decorate and communicate with your guests simultaneously. Following these tips will guarantee that your dinner party won’t pass you by!
- Organize those appetizers.
An expert dinner host or hostess knows to provide the guests with something to munch on before the feast. With no pre-dinner snacks, you could have a hungry (and impatient) herd on your hands. The Buca di Beppo To Go and Catering menus are incomparable appetizer resources. Our to-go menu features amazing antipasti such as Artichoke Florentine Dip, Bruschetta, Mozzarella Caprese and Fried Calamari. For a particularly large dinner party, consider starting the night off with a salad course from our catering menu. Either way, arranging snacks and appetizers on the proper serving trays will make it look great and give your guest somewhere to gather when the evening first begins.
- Serve a signature drink.
You don’t have to be a trained mixologist to come up with a clever party drink. Whether you make Peach Bellinis in fine stemware or a simple, fruit-infused iced tea, a unique beverage can really bring a party together. Should you choose to use Buca Catering services, you can conveniently add certain beverages to your order. Our staff would also be happy to help you brainstorm beverage ideas.
- Do up the details.
Little details definitely make a difference when it comes to throwing an epic in-home bash or restaurant banquet. It’s always wise to deal with as many details as possible before the day of the event or consult an expert like the experienced staff at your local Buca!
- Offer multiple entrée options.
If there’s one thing you want to avoid at all costs at your dinner party, it’s a lack of dining options. Having at least one meat option and one vegetarian can help accommodate the majority of your guests’ food preferences. Our celebratory catering package already includes a choice of two entrées so you can be sure that no one leaves your party unsatisfied.
- Let someone else handle the cooking.
Our favorite dinner party tip? Forget about the cooking and let Buca di Beppo handle it! With a tasty menu already taken care of, you can focus on what really matters at an event – spending more time with the ones you love.
How to Pair the Perfect Wine with Your Pasta
Italian food is made for pairing. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Italy is the number one producer of wine in the world. Maybe it’s because the pasta, cheese and fresh herbs so central to Italian cuisine just tend bring out the best in the grapes. Whatever it was that brought together vino and Italian food, we’re glad it did. The right wine can make an incredible Italian meal even more incredible. Likewise, the wrong wine can make a great meal taste off. That’s why having some basic knowledge of wine pairings can greatly enhance your next visit to Buca di Beppo! These are a few of our most loved couplings…
Chianti is an instantly recognizable Italian favorite. Traditionally, it comes in a squat glass bottle wrapped in a wicker basket. It can often be seen on red-and-white checked tables next to baskets of warm Italian bread. The version we serve in our restaurants comes straight from the sunny Chianti region of Tuscany and, like several other reds on our menu, pairs exceptionally well with our shareable spaghetti and our famous Buca meatballs.
Pinot Grigio (Italian for “gray”) is a crisp white wine which makes it a good option for summer dining and an ideal companion for seafood. We have several Pinot Grigio options on our wine list. Order a glass alongside a bowl of our Linguine Frutti del Mar featuring shrimp, mussels, calamari and baby clams or get a bottle for the table to go with a succulent fried calamari platter.
Have you heard about our Ciao! vineyard selections? Ciao! Wines are produced especially for Buca di Beppo Restaurants. We’re currently carrying two Ciao! varieties – a lively Pinot Grigio and a light, fruity Rosso. The Rosso is a perfect red wine to have with our lighter pasta combinations. Any of our chicken pastas would taste nice with a charming glass of Ciao! Rosso and there are quite a few to choose from – Chicken Carbonara, Fettuccine Supremo, Penne San Remo or Spicy Chicken Rigatoni.
A dry prosecco can inspire a celebratory mood at any table! It’s like champagne that way, only with more Italian va-va-voom. The Maschio Prosecco available at Buca di Beppo can be described as having a bouquet of white peach and orange blossom plus fruit-forward taste of peach and citrus. It can bring out the best in our earthy mushroom pastas. Our Macaroni Rosa with chicken breast, broccoli, mushrooms and peas, for example, harmonizes perfectly with bubbly prosecco.
Something else that makes our wine list special (aside from its ability to complement our chefs’ creations) is its many size options. Many of the wines we carry can be purchased as a glass, a bottle or a larger “family-size” bottle. Some can even be brought out in a 9 oz. quartino carafe so you can order exactly the right wine in exactly the amount you want.
Our Limited Time Summer Specials Are Back, and This Time With Basil!
It’s believed that the basil plant originated somewhere in the Indian subcontinent. Indeed, the sweet and pungent leaf has found its way into many South and Southeast Asian cuisines – particularly Thai, Indonesian and Vietnamese. The country that really adopted it into its kitchens and made it into a key ingredient in many national recipes, however, is Italy! From pesto to pizza, fresh basil has a role like no other herb in Italian cuisine. Since this herb plays such a prominent role in an Italian summer, we’re giving out FREE* packets of sweet basil seeds to our Buca di Beppo guests starting June 8, 2015.
We’re also featuring these small-but-mighty leaves in some of our limited-time-only summer dishes!
Spicy Chitarra al Pomodoro
Our first summer specialty come pomodoro-style with arugula and fire-roasted red and gold grape tomatoes. The spaghetti used for this dish is an alla chitarra egg pasta imported from Italy, chosen specifically by our chefs due to its remarkable ability to take on the taste of a fresh tomato sauce.
Fresh Garden Pappardelle
This second pasta has even more flavor than the Chitarra! Basil cream sauce, zucchini, carrots and sautéed shrimp paired with pappardelle pasta make up this crave-able garden entrée.
Pancetta & Arugula Pizza
You’ll find our final summer-only creation on the Buca di Beppo pizza menu. This impressive white pizza comes with spicy sausage, pieces of pancetta, garlic and arugula on a base layer of mozzarella and provolone. The whole shebang comes lightly drizzled with a zingy balsamic glaze to make this otherwise sauce-less pizza anything but boring.
What to Do with Your FREE* Basil
Start seeds indoors or seed directly in the garden about 1/4 inch deep in warm soil. Outdoors, thinly spread seedlings will encourage low, bushy plants to develop. Give your basil 6 to 8 hours of sunlight daily. Because the whole purpose of keeping a basil plant is to harvest it for lots of tender leaves, a little fertilizer might be needed. Basil is at its most pungent when fresh and the best time to harvest is just as the plant starts to bud, before any flowers appear. Snip leaves or branches and pinch off flower buds to keep the plant productive.
For an Italian family, nothing says summer like basil-topped dinners, salads and snacks. There’s a great number of uses for fresh basil in Italian summer fare, as demonstrated by our seasonal menu items! Construct a simple and stunning Insalata Caprese with thick slices of tomato, hunks of mozzarella, basil leaves and olive oil. Throw it onto a pizza or a light pasta dish to add extra flavor and brightness. Blend up your harvest with oil, parmesan, pine nuts and garlic to make an impressive pesto for pastas, gnocchi or sandwiches.

Your Private Buca Tour – Something for Everyone
On our website, users are able to take a virtual restaurant tour and get a good look at our unique dining rooms. At each one of our 95 locations, visitors are able to choose which one of these fabulous rooms they’d like to eat in. There’s a Poster Room, a Wine Room, a Pope Room and a special Chef’s Table!
The Poster Room
You can probably imagine what gives the Poster Room its name – wall-to-wall vintage Italia posters! Only instead of hanging the posters on the wall, we’ve hung many of them on the ceiling. These colorful posters bring to mind classic Italian art, memories of Italian cinema and dreams of European travel. They create an ideal atmosphere for savoring some amazing meatballs and uncorking a stout bottle of Chianti. The Poster Room is furnished with tables of various sizes including comfortable booths and cozy café tables.
The Wine Room
Similar to the Poster Room, the key to appreciating the Wine Room is remembering to look up! In the Wine Room, you’ll see a ceiling decorated with vines and wine bottles plus walls covered with twinkle lights and charming black-and-white photographs. Our Wine Rooms are designed to be able to accommodate multiple table configurations. Small and large parties alike are sure to have a blast in this viniferous dining rooms!
The Pope Room
Italy’s history is practically synonymous with Pope history! For this reason, every Buca di Beppo Restaurant has a Pope Room filled with statues, photographs and other artistic representations of Popes past and present. Every Pope Room also includes souvenirs straight from the Vatican. The central object in the Pope Room is a huge round table capable of seating a party of 12 to 18 people. A lazy susan in the middle of that table makes it easy for diners to share soft breads, fresh-tossed salads and big bowls of pasta. It’s the perfect semi-private room for a great family outing or a memorable restaurant birthday party.
Most Bucas have a Chef’s Table with unobstructed views into La Cucina and direct contact with our Italian cooks! From your seats, you and your dinner companions have the chance to see professional chefs practice authentic Italian cooking techniques. We think seeing ingredients transformed in person makes a meal that much more memorable. This is the best table in the house for foodies and anyone intrigued by a fast-paced kitchen environment. Chef’s Table guests are encouraged to interact with Buca chefs, ask them whatever questions they think of and order dishes they may have never tried before. Your server or your chef will be able to tell you which sides and wines best suit your meal. Call now to reserve the Buca di Beppo Chef’s Table for your next occasion!

- Apple Gorgonzola Salad
The sweet and tangy combination of fruits, nuts and veggies in this Buca di Beppo ensalate is a perfect precursor to a savory Italian dinner! A favorite among on-premises customers and catering clients alike, this fresh-tossed salad feature tart Granny Smith wedges, dried cranberries, crunchy walnuts, mixed lettuce and lots of crumbled Gorgonzola. Finish it off with Buca’s Italian vinaigrette and you might just find yourself with a long line at the salad bowl at your catered affair.
- Chicken Parmigiana
Chicken Parm is always a crowd-pleaser. Our version comes lightly crusted, covered with homemade marinara sauce and finished off with melty mozzarella cheese. A single serving of this dish paired with a few spoonfuls of a Buca di Beppo salad makes for a satisfying party meal!
- Penne San Remo
One full pan of our Penne San Remo feeds up to 20 people. It’s as share-able with much more unexpected tastes! To create this catering offering, we combine penne pasta with roasted chicken breast, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, green peas and a tasty white wine cream sauce. It’s a fantastic substitute for the typical Italian standbys.
- Classic Cookies and Brownies
A party is no time to start thinking about skipping dessert! Our dessert trays can make the most casual gatherings more festive. Stick with something familiar with a tray of chocolate chip cookies and brownies.
LVP Sangria – Now Available at Buca di Beppo
Authentic sangria is made in Spain and Portugal – two of Italy’s closest neighbors, geographically and culturally speaking! It’s no wonder that a glass of this fruity elixir pairs deliciously with our menu of pastas, antipasti, salads and sides at Buca di Beppo! The refreshing summer beverage typically consists of wine, chopped fruits, juice or honey and a bit of brandy but LVP Sangria has simplified the drink by bottling two pre-made sangria recipes of their own. They’re both made with premium Spanish wines, they both contain with no added sugar and, as of this summer, they’re both available at Buca!
LVP by Lisa Vanderpump is a luscious, refreshing sangria made from Spanish red and rosé wines. The effervescent rosé is a unique sangria ingredient that adds true Vanderpump flair to the product. To start, this new brand is only making itself available in stores around Miami and Los Angeles, so the best way to get a “sneak peek” of these LVP flavors outside of those cities is by ordering yourself a glass the next time you’re at Buca di Beppo. These light, lifting drinks are best poured over ice, fresh cut fruit or a combination of the two and that’s exactly how it’s served in our restaurants. This sumptuous drink fits right in at any occasion, from showers and parties to casual Friday nights!
LVP RED SANGRIA
This traditional red sangria is crafted with Tempranillo grapes, arguably the most famous of Spain’s native grapes. Tempranillo is a vibrant, aromatic black grape that adds spicy, red fruit aromas and flavors for full-bodied red wine. The grape’s name translates to “little early one,” referencing the fact that it ripens several weeks earlier than most Spanish red grapes. The Tempranillo wines for LVP are aged in oak to generate increased complexity and harmony. This surprising red can be enjoyed at any point during your meal at Buca. Sip it as a pre-entrée cocktail, use it to bring some extra interest to your main course or order it with a signature Buca desert such as our Italian Crème Cake with complementary notes of raspberry and lemon.
LVP PINK SANGRIA
When it’s truly sweltering outside, a lighter wine like rosé often tastes fresher. LVP’s Pink Sangria is made from a Bobal and Grenache grape blend. Grenache a.k.a. granacha adds berry and cherry flavors, herbal accents and richness. Its full flavor and regional character makes LVP Pink Sangria silky, floral and lush. Bobal is a variety of Vitis Vinifera, a red grape whose name derives from the Latin bovale, in reference to the shape of a bull’s head. Its skin is intensely and brightly colored and its smell is certainly one-of-a-kind. Together, these varietals make a well-integrated wine perfect for afternoon enjoyment or washing down an amazing Italian feast.
