Buca Brings the Food and the Fun to Your Holiday Office Party
Book Your Catering Packages Today!
Most offices have an annual holiday celebration to show appreciation for its employees and allow time for colleagues to mix and mingle outside of work hours. They often take place in the workplace just after office hours. Presentations are frequently given and noteworthy employees are awarded for their performance. If you’re in charge of organizing this year’s holiday office party, here is what you need to do to get started planning the best holiday party your office has ever had.
Set the date
You first need to decide when the party will take place, since everything else will be planned around this date. Keep in mind that some dates will be very busy during the holiday season and some days less so. Choosing a midweek day will often give you more options for entertainment, catering, venues, etc.
Decide the guest list and venue
You don’t necessarily need a final number just yet but you should have a ballpark number in mind. Are you inviting all employees? Certain departments? Are spouses and families invited? After you have received back your RSVPs you will be able to provide a final head count to your caterer and any other relevant vendors. You also need to finalize the location. The office party will probably be at the office, but where exactly?
Send “Save the Date” cards
As soon as you know the date and exact location of the party, it’s time to send “Save the Date” cards to your office mates. Notifying everyone as soon as possible will ensure the best turn out during the busy time of the year.
The best way to plan for the best office holiday party is with a perfect catering menu from everyone’s favorite Italian restaurant, Buca di Beppo! Call us today to start planning your special menu. With homegating you enjoy all the energy and thrill of tailgating, but you host your gathering in your own home. The comfortable alternative of your flat-screen TV and nearby bathrooms can outweigh the work of hauling everything to a parking lot, braving the elements, and awkwardly balancing your plate for even the most fanatical football fans.

Take Time to Stop and Taste the Rosé
First produced over 2,000 years ago in the French region of Provence, rosé has recently become the wine of choice among many oenophiles and wine “newbies”. Not to be confused with the sweet white zinfandels of the 1980s, rosé and white zinfandel have the same pink color, but their similarities end there. Another common misconception is that rosé can be made by mixing red wine with white wine. That is not the case. Rosé is actually made when red grapes are lightly crushed and left to soak with their skins for a very short time. While some red wines soak for weeks at a time, rosé is strained from its skins before it becomes too dark, anywhere from a few hours to a few days. The winemaker determines the hue, the skins are removed, the juice is allowed to ferment, and the end result is a delicious rosé.
Rosé is not limited to a specific grape or region. It is created from a combination of grenache, syrah, rolle, cinsault and mourvèdre grapes produced in France, Spain, Italy, and the United States and the type of grape used will affect the flavor. An Italian “rosato” will have cherry and orange zest flavors, while a rosé from Provence will have notes of honeydew melon, lemon, and celery. Other rosés may offer flavors of strawberry, rose petal, and rhubarb. A rosé is usually light and floral but can range from bone dry to lightly sweet. Rosé, does not improve over the years so most bottles will not be dated more than two or three years back.
Make this summer special. Invite your friends and family over to relax and enjoy the long, lazy days of the season. Let Buca bring all of your favorites so you don’t have to steam up your kitchen or worry about a thing. You can sit back with your glass of rosé and know that we have all the details covered. Or invite everyone to Buca for an evening of amazing food and service in a fun environment. We offer a great selection of rosés to accompany your meal. A chilled rosé is fun, casual, and tastes good. No wonder it has become a favorite among wine drinkers! Whether you are having a poolside picnic catered by Buca or looking for an accompaniment for a meal, rosé is the perfect choice for refreshing your palate.

Treat Yourself to Magical, Mouthwatering Layers – National Lasagna Day is July 29th
Culinary historians know that noodles have been enjoyed for at least 4,000 years, but there is some disagreement about where the first pasta dish originated. The first lasagna recipe appears in The Liber de Coquina (The Book of Cooking/Cookery), one of the oldest medieval cookbooks, but many theories exist on how this layered dish came to be named. One theory is that lasagna came to Italy from Greece. The term “lasagna” may derive from the Greek word “lasana” which means a trivet or a pot, or from the word “laganon” meaning a wide and flat sheet of pasta dough cut into strips. Lasagna may also be an Italian adaptation of a 14th-century British recipe, Loseyn, which layered ingredients between pasta sheets. The delicious oven baked casserole that we love today originated in Northern Italy sometime in the late 1500s after Christopher Columbus sent tomatoes to Europe from the New World. Italian immigrants brought their traditional recipes with them when they came to America, but the popularity of the lasagna among non-Italians soared in the 1950s, when soldiers returned from WWII craving for the foods they had eaten while stationed in Italy.
Most commonly featuring layers of lasagna noodles, tomato sauce, and cheese, and flavored with wine, garlic, onion, and oregano, lasagna is one of America’s most loved Italian dishes. There are dozens of different variations with additions such as meats, seafood, vegetables, ragùs, and Béchamel sauces to suit every taste bud. Lasagna is the ultimate comfort food. A big pan of lasagna takes time to create and bake but will have your mouth watering the entire time it bubbles in your oven. The only down side to National Lasagna Day is that it is smack dab in the middle of a sweltering summer month and that means that cooking a pan of lasagna might not rank high on your list of dishes to cook in a hot and humid kitchen. That’s when you turn to your favorite Italian restaurant, Buca! Come to one of our restaurants to enjoy our super special lasagna recipe featuring towering layers of meat sauce, ricotta, mozzarella, provolone, and Parmesan in one of our cool (and cooled) dining rooms. We can also cater your event with party pans of lasagna! Or you can pick up a party pan to take to your home or event.
Whether you don’t have the time to create your own lasagna or it’s just too hot to bake in your kitchen, let Buca help you celebrate National Lasagna Day! The official day is Friday, July 29th, but we’re celebrating all week long from Monday, July 25th through Sunday, July 31st!
