Buca di Beppo’s Many Meatless Dishes

Italian cuisine has always been kind to vegetarians and, at Buca di Beppo, our dynamic menu full of Italian classics is no different. Traditionally, the people of Italy abstained from meat throughout Lent and Advent, not just on Ash Wednesday and Fridays. As a result of this cultural tradition, there’s now a nearly limitless variety of supremely tasty vegetarian and pescatarian dishes with distinctly Italian roots. Whether you never eat meat or you’re just abstaining in the weeks before Easter, we’ve got loads of delicious, meat-free options that are sure to leave you satisfied!

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season, a time of penance, prayer and dietary restriction. From mid-February to Easter Sunday, many individuals abstaining from meat on Fridays struggle to find good veggie and seafood dishes that don’t skimp on taste and don’t leave them hungry. Well, meat eaters, it’s time to trade in the fish sticks for something a whole lot more mouth-watering – succulent salads and premium pastas from Buca di Beppo!

Start with a salad.

The season of Lent is the perfect time to learn to love veggies. And our colossal salad creations make vegetables very lovable. Our Mixed Green Salad, drizzled with some of our signature vinaigrette dressing, showcases some of the best of what the Mediterranean has to offer – olives, pepperoncini and crispy produce. This year, we also introduced a comforting Warm Tomato & Spinach Salad featuring fresh spinach, warmed balsamic vinaigrette, red onions, spiced pecans, feta cheese and vibrant Roma tomatoes that could make anybody forget about missing out on meat.

Then, move on to the (meatless) main course!

With our awesome vegetarian options and our heaping pasta bowls, there’s no longer any reason to feel unsatisfied on Fridays during Lent. Our chicken and sausage entrées always feed two to four people, depending on which size you go with, and our vegetarian entrées are equally filling. Try our Eggplant Parmigiana for a fantastic change of pace or our Penne alla Vodka for a spicy take on meatless dining. You could even substitute your typical order for one of our ever-so-savory baked vegetarian pasta dishes.

Rather than going entirely meatless, many people choose to eat seafood during Lent. Fortunately, our seafood entrées are downright delicious. Linguine teeming with garlic shrimp, spinach, tomatoes and butter sauce makes up our famous Shrimp Florentine, for instance. Plus, for a limited time only this spring, our Linguine and Clams is BACK and better than ever with whole baby clams and your choice of red or white sauce.

This Friday, don’t stress about how you’re going to get through dinner without chicken of beef – come to Buca and savor every vegetarian bite!
